a time to choose

Poor Jamie is in his 3rd year at secondary school and has to pick his options this year. The thing is what child really knows at this age what sought of carreer they want to do . This is proving to be a bit of a challenge in our house at the moment as Jamie is not at all sure what he wants to do.

As parents you want to steer them in the best of direction in life so we are coming up with lots of ideas as to what he might fancy.

The bad choice's made now, are harder to rectify as you get older and do we think that this amount of pressure should be put on someone so young. I know we all had to do it for some of us it was a long time ago but do you wish you had put more thought into what you did back then.

I was very lucky and although i do not do what i had originally trained for i had a great time moving around the country and trying lots of different aspects of work. So what did i train to become.....A horse riding insrtuctor. Iwent to college for a year and got my A.I---assistant instructor in those days and also my Horsemaster certificate. For getting these over 20 years ago i have worked in a showjumping yard , polo yard ,racing yard and even between these i have managed a riding school. So as you can see i had fun there was never any money to be made but life was good.

I still even now go and teach the odd private lesson but have ended up now working for a large wholesaler as a receptionist, how life changes since we pick our options at school.
